Hungry For Change
MA Material Futures graduate Emily Boxall discusses her project, Hungry For Change, which identifies the issue of food insecurity, poverty and hunger. Through the potential integration of Community Larders in public locations to provide an open-source space where locals can share unused food to reduce food waste and address the issue of hunger.
Emily Boxall is a multi-disciplinary designer focussing on the power of community and design for social innovation. Attempting to tackle some of the biggest issues our society faces with positivity to motivate change, she hopes to encourage more connected and joyful interactions between people. Her current work has centred around food and the complex issues surrounding food poverty and hunger. By confronting the challenges a growing population faces in the present climate crisis through a positive perspective, Emily aims to create a more inclusive and empowered society. This strong belief in the power of people to make monumental change is key in the way in which she approaches projects which are largely community based or collaborative.
